In this paper, normalized acceleration spectra based on about 30 strong motion accelerograms obtained in Japan are presented. It becomes clear that the spectra show different characteristics according to the sub-soil and foundation conditions.

Authors hope the obtained results may contribute to seismic analysis and earthquake resistant design of structures.
